Ed joined Optima Care as a Care Assistant in 2010 working between Claro and The Leonard Elms Care Homes where he found his interest in dementia care. Qualifying in 2017 with a BSc Hons Degree in Mental Health Nursing, specialising in a varied field of mental health including psychological therapies, alcohol and detox care, Ed joined the Leonard Elms Nursing Team later that year.
As the groups Director of Dementia Studies, Ed has since gone on to strengthen his knowledge in this field, studying at the University of Stirling and becoming a Facilitator on Best Practice in Dementia Care in 2018. Further to this Ed has began a special interest in dementia research and is currently working with academics on innovative research pertinent to Dementia Care Services, including clinical analysis through to environmental influence on people with dementia, which he is currently studying at Stirling University.
Amongst Ed’s clinical career development Ed has since passed a number of Post Grad Masters level modules in Personal Management and Leadership.
Ed lives in Weston-Super-Mare has recreational interests in sports, in particular, boxing, golf and rugby. Ed loves a good steak with a glass of red, if its the end of the month a burger and a beer will suffice.
